  • So? Access to healthcare for over 110 million Ethiopians remains a challenge, to put it politely. Infectious disease, lack of safe water, sanitation and hygiene, and malnutrition continue to threaten the vast majority of people. Most Ethiopians have faith in traditional healers and procedures. In children, uvulectomy (to prevent presumed suffocation during pharyngitis in babies), the extraction of lower incisors (to prevent diarrhea), and the incision of eyelids (to prevent or cure conjunctivitis) are common. 88 percent of children live in poverty, lacking access to at least three of the fundamental needs such as adequate nutrition, education, health, and shelter. Child trafficking is prevalent, and practically culturally accepted as the norm. Prosecution for child trafficking and sexual exploitation is nonexistent. Plenty of oil and gas, plenty of money, but corruption is king. I am a student of history, with advanced understanding. Study history and learn. Be objective. Do not be biased and idealize things based on confirmation bias. The artwork in this video is an example of extreme bias in an extremely detrimental way, and specifically intended to sway the viewer. It is non-academic, unrealistic, anti-intellectual, and simply inhumane. It is an abuse of humanity and actually an abuse of Ethiopia itself as well as Ethiopians. This isn't arguable. I am informing you. Do better.
