    When we say swahili dishes are spicy, does not mean pepper. Spices is more than just hot pepper. West African say spice they mean hot pepper. In mombasa we used alit of spices like cardamom cumin, cinnamon black pepper garlic ginger etc. Thats what we mean by spice. We make our chilli o the side and you add to your food.
