Day 1: Johannesburg to the Tented Camp near Kruger National Park – South Africa
Embark on an exhilarating 5-Day Kruger Camping Safari in South Africa starting with a morning transfer from OR Tambo International Airport to the Greater Kruger area. We traverse the enchanting landscapes of Mpumalanga’s Highveld and Lowveld, reaching our tented camp in Moditlo Nature Reserve by approximately 14:00.
After a pause for refreshments, we dive into the excitement of an afternoon sunset game drive in Moditlo Game Reserve and Blue Canyon Conservancy. The Moditlo Nature Reserve forms part of the larger Blue Canyon Conservancy which we explore aboard an open safari vehicle. Moditlo and Blue Canyon Conservancy offer diverse terrains, from bushveld plains to riverine areas. This private game reserve offers exceptional opportunities to spot the renowned Big 5 (lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffaloes) and various other animals such as cheetahs, hyenas, and giraffes. As twilight descends, we savour sundowners out in the African bush before returning to camp to unwind, have dinner around the Boma fire, and share tales of our first adventures on safari in South Africa.

Day 2: Kruger National Park Safari– South Africa
Spend a full day exploring the world-famous Kruger National Park in open 4×4 safari vehicles on day two of our 5-Day Kruger Camping Safari.
Depending on the animal activity, two itinerary options await us: an early rise at approximately 5:30 with a bush breakfast en route and an earlier return, or a more relaxed start with breakfast at the camp, setting off later and returning later. Departure times will be communicated the night before to optimise wildlife encounters.
Lasting approximately 7 to 8 hours, our Kruger safari explores the Orpen-Satara area, renowned for its superb lion sightings. Our expert guide leads us through the vast expanse of Kruger National Park leveraging their knowledge to locate wildlife and birds and enriching our experience with fascinating insights about the Kruger bush and its inhabitants.
After our Kruger National Park safari, we return to the tented camp for a leisurely afternoon followed by another delightful campfire dinner beneath the stars.

Day 3: Panorama Route – South Africa
Today, our budget camping safari in South Africa greets us with an early rise for a refreshing change of scenery as we embark on a full-day Panorama Route tour. This iconic route in Mpumalanga province, offers breathtaking views, linking various cultural and natural attractions.
Beginning at the base of the Long Tom Pass near Lydenburg and descending naturally from the Great Escarpment to the Lowveld, it culminates near the Echo Caves at the border of Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces. Our tour showcases numerous waterfalls, expansive forested areas, and renowned landmarks like Berlin Falls, God’s Window, The Pinnacle, and Three Rondawels. Following our Panorama Route adventure, we return to our tented camp for another fireside dinner and a laid-back night under the stars.
Alternatively, you can opt for an extra full-day safari in Kruger National Park (and pre-book an optional Panorama Route Tour on the final day of your safari instead).

Day 4: Kruger National Park Safari – South Africa
Day four of our budget camping safari in South Africa takes us on another full-day safari in Kruger National Park aboard open 4×4 safari vehicles.
Similar to our previous full-day Kruger safari, two itinerary options are available based on animal activity: an early rise at approximately 5:30 with a bush breakfast en route and an earlier return, or a more relaxed start with breakfast at the camp, setting off later and returning later. Once again, departure times will be communicated the night before. Our expert guide searches out wildlife in the Orpen-Satara area, enriching our experience with captivating knowledge about the Kruger bush and its inhabitants. Following our Kruger safari adventure, we return to our safari camp in Moditlo Nature Reserve for a leisurely afternoon and another delightful campfire dinner, sharing stories under the stars.

Day 5: Greater Kruger to Johannesburg – South Africa
Our 5-day Kruger Camping Safari in South Africa concludes after breakfast this morning as we bid farewell and return to OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, arriving around 17:00 or 18:00.
While no activities are included today, optional extra activities can be pre-booked to enhance your last day, such as a bush walk before breakfast or a sunrise game drive in Blue Canyon Conservancy.
You can pre-book one of the following optional extra activities:
- A short bush walk in the neighbouring Motlala Conservancy before breakfast
- 3-hour sunrise game drive in Blue Canyon Conservancy, Greater Kruger area
- Panorama Route Highlights Tour on day 5 (pre-booking required)
Optional extra activities must be pre-booked at an additional cost and will be confirmed on request.

This 5-day Kruger Camping Safari stays at a fully-equipped tented camp near Kruger National Park. The Blue Canyon Conservancy, located near the famed Greater Kruger National Park is an expanse of protected land teeming with an impressive variety of plant and animal species. The Moditlo Nature Reserve encompasses 3,200 hectares within the Blue Canyon Conservancy, totalling 12,000 hectares.
Situated at the base of the iconic Drakensberg mountains and located just 12 kilometres from Hoedspruit in the Limpopo province, it resides in the Valley of the Olifants, a mere 30 kilometres from Kruger National Park, it is dotted with lakes, and boasts a diverse array of wildlife. While it is part of the Greater Kruger biosphere, it shares boundaries with Kapama Game Reserve to the east and the Drakensberg Mountains to the west, yet it is distinct from the Greater Kruger National Park.
